Manami Hayasaki

All of Manami Hayasaki’s works are cut from thin black card.  She uses the scalpel as other artists might use a pencil, inventing a graphic language of her own as she goes.  Many of her pieces are cut from a single sheet.

Manami’s skill is virtuosic, but it is the maturity of her imagination – for an artist in her twenties – that is so arresting.  Her subject matter, broadly speaking, is a playful interpretation of humans’ interactions with the natural world.

Manami Hayasaki graduated from Chelsea College of Art in 2007.  In 2008 she showed in a project space at the London Art Fair.
