Sarah Stitt
Sarah Stitt’s one-person show in 2008 created a visual diary of her move to Los Angeles, recording everyday experiences and her struggle to embrace the new and very different American culture. Her approach is direct and uncomplicated. The frequent portraits of Stitt’s children reveal the emotional impact of the adventure as well as the excitement of being suddenly immersed in the Californian way of life.
Sarah Stitt was born in London and educated at St. Martin’s School of Art and City and Guilds. She has painted numerous portraits to commission, including Earl Spencer, Alice Thomas Ellis, Sarah Raphael, Craig Ferguson and Anna Chancellor.
