As a provider of material on the one hand, and a bearer of content on the other, the book is the germ cell of Blackwell’s work. One can imagine many stories when looking at these works.

‘The exhibition is a collection of ideas born out of books, that have been developing over the past two years. My life has changed remarkably over these two years, most notably, I relocated to Hastings ( a small fishing town on the south coast) from London. The landscape to which I look out at every day from my studio has partly inspired the work in the show. The show brings together two of my main interests, ‘fairy tales’ and ‘nature’, and here they overlap and combine.’ – Su Blackwell
